Taylor, Day Four: Rocky Mountain High

So I've been a really terrible blogger the past couple days. When we made it into Pagosa Springs, Colorado two nights ago I was totally beat, so I skipped blogging. Now everything's blurring together and I can't remember what the heck happened when. SO I'm going to do my best to lay out yesterday through pictures and then move on to my post about Mesa Verde, Four Corners and the Grand Canyon which will be much more exciting and verbose!

Okay, here we go!

We started out Thursday morning in Kearney, Nebraska and got on the road aiming for Mesa Verde National Park in Cortez, CO. That's a pretty far stretch and we ran into some car trouble which slowed us down but all in all it was a great day.

The Colorado Welcome Sign. We were very happy to see they had one (still lookin' at you Pennsylvania...)

Shortly after entering the state we came across Fort Morgan. Pretty exciting for my similarly named travel companion! This is the best picture I got from the passenger seat, just imagine Barlow Road isn't there.

Here are a few pictures of the Rocky Mountain Landscape (click to enlarge.) The views from the car were incredible, and such a nice change from Iowa and Nebraska which were mostly corn fields and farms.

We stopped in Jefferson, Colorado looking for gas and postcards. We found both, after a fashion. We stopped into the Post Office which was a stop on the Pony Express back in the day, which I thought was a cool little bit of history. Here is a picture of the depot building across from the post office. Note the historical satellite dish.

And finally, here is a picture I took from the car. I just loved the way this rock formation looked. It reminded me of taking trips through Colorado when I was a kid and just being in complete and total awe of the magnitude of nature here. And 16 years later I am still that 6 year old looking out the window of an RV, marveling at everything Colorado (and the rest of these great states) has to offer.

Alright folks, thats it for now, I'll do my best to catch up on the rest of my posts after we go through Zion, thanks for reading!
